Exporting files to Figma
There are several ways to export from Figma:
- The first way to share your document is to click the Share button in the upper right corner of the screen. Then - Copy link - the link is saved, and you can send it to third parties.
They can use this link to get to this file, but they will not be able to change anything in it.
- The second way is to select File ➡️ Export in the menu. The document will be saved on your computer in PNG format, and then you can transfer it in any convenient way.
Let's consider what other interesting ways to export to Figma are:
- You can share either the entire image or a part of it, just right-click on a certain element of the drawing and select Copy/Paste as ➡️ Copy as PNG.
This element will be saved in the computer's clipboard and you can "paste" it into any messenger or publish it on social networks by simply pressing CTRL + V.
- You can use export: select the desired layer, find Exsport at the bottom right of the inspector.
There are some settings here (preview of our exported image, ability to change size, image format and ability to add a suffix).
There are also "three dots" behind them, some small settings are hidden. When the PNG format is selected, this is not very interesting, but when SVG is selected, you can check the box "add a unique id attribute" (Include "id" attribute). This is not particularly important for a designer, but for layout and development, they sometimes ask to add unique id to SVG files.
When all the settings are selected, click Export. The file will be saved on your computer.
- Using the "Slice" tool. We take this tool, select the part we want to export in the frame, configure it on the right in the inspector and click on Export.
In fact, this is the same screenshot. The file is exported with the name "Slice", but if we want to export it with a different name, we just need to change "slice" to another name on the right.
This is how easy and simple it is to transfer both the entire file in Figma to a third party, as well as some parts of our file.
